WHAT IS ROTARY?

Rotary is a global humanitarian organization made up of business, professional, and community people who work together to provide service to the local community, promote integrity, and advance goodwill.

Starting in Chicago in February 1905, Rotary has grown to over 1.4 million volunteers in 165 countries. Recognised for it’s work throughout the world it is the only volunteer organization with a seat in the General Assembly of the United Nations. Rotary’s charity, the Rotary Foundation, is the world’s largest non-government charity. It’s Causes, recognised by each Club and member, encompasses many of the problems being experienced in the world today

Still, many people ask exactly what we are. There are often questions like, are you a religious group, or are you a political group? The answer is no; we are simply a group of local people who are committed to assisting others, to being involved in our community, and to raise funds to help others.

Our group attracts a broad range of people from different walks of life. All with one mission, to serve the community. If you have ever considered becoming a member, please come along to one of our meetings to find out more. We would love to explain exactly what we do.
